According to data collected by Similarweb for three months on the domain Shopify.com, on average, Shopify traffic is over 76.7 million visits per month.
WooCommerce.com, Squarespace.com, and Ecwid.com all receive an average of 2.8 million monthly visits.
WordPress.org receives an average of 17.7 million visits per month.
Most WooCommerce users install WordPress themselves. Understandably, their numbers are lower since they can install WooCommerce from the admin area of their store without ever visiting WooCommerce.com.org.
These metrics show Shopify’s dominance in the global e-commerce market.
Shopify’s ability to attract new customers and maintain its relationship with existing customers is the only thing that stands in the way of dominating other platforms.

A global survey Shopify did on Shopify Plus retailers found that 35% saw their average cart size shrink in 2022. This means customers aren’t purchasing as much when they place orders.
The survey was conducted between August and September 2022.
Shopify Plus, as the name suggests, is the plan that Shopify offers for high-volume online businesses.
This plan costs $2,000/month. That’s much more expensive. That’s the Shopify base plan ($39/month) or Starter plan ($5/month) for selling via a content management platform like WordPress or social media applications.
Shopify Plus merchants will see a 50% drop in site traffic and conversions by 2022.
Shopify Plus’s survey of high-volume merchants revealed that 50% saw less traffic to their sites in 2022. This means they saw lower conversions.
Shopify store owners have reported that their inventory-to-sales ratios spiked in the second quarter of 2022 for products over $100.
This may be a result of consumers’ response to inflation.
