It’s hard enough to come up with a value proposition. Even harder is to come up with an original value proposition.
Your niche is a good place to start.
Value propositions help you to deliver this something to your future customers.
This post lists a few content creators who have audiences of various sizes.
Each creator’s value proposition and the way they use it in their content or company’s products is explained.
You’ll also find an easy-to-follow guide for making your own at the end of this post.
Stephen King
Value proposition: Create compelling horror characters by drawing inspiration from real-life experiences.
Start with the most famous name.
Stephen King is, as you may know, one of today’s most popular authors and one of the best-selling authors of the 20th century.
The classic titles of his work include It, Carrie, The Shining, The Stand, The Green Mile, Salem’s Lot, and Pet Sematary, which have all been turned into blockbuster movies and television shows.
Stephen’s preferred genre is horror. But to be successful in this field, you need more than just telling scary stories.
King’s writing has been inspired by his life experiences and the people he knows.
This is where his unique value lies, particularly when you compare it to the work of other authors in his genre.
He is able to make a genre, which is normally full of gore, thrills, and frills, more exciting and frightening by basing entire works or individual scenes on characters who seem real and relatable.
In his memoir Writing: A Memoir of the Craft, he shares anecdotes and offers advice to other writers.
For example, he explains that the female protagonist in his debut novel (Carrie) was created by combining two girls from his childhood.
This ability to infuse realism into supernatural stories is what attracts so many readers.
This is a direct quotation from an interview that was lost in 1989. It has been animated and produced by PBS Digital Studios.
This book gives a good insight into his writing process in terms of horror and fear.
“I believe that many supernatural stories are based on fears that can be found in everyday life. Between these two levels is the shout above, where the pretending is happening, and the whisper below, where the subconscious is saying yes, but this could happen if only you could change a couple of things. The story will succeed if it can achieve this.
“When we deal with Grand Guigniol the things which are happening just outside the spotlight and that you cannot quite see are the things which really scare us.”
Linus Tech Tips
Value proposition: Linus Sebastien, the host of Linus Tech Tips and the main host, has worked with computers for more than 20 years. His opinion on tech products, including the screw screws the brand launched, is highly valued.
Linus Tech Tips is a popular YouTube channel with more than 15,4 million subscribers.
Linus Tech Tip is one of eight YouTube channels in the Linus Media Group, which has more than 26 million subscribers.
Linus Sebastian is the owner and primary host of Linus Media Group. He began his career as a video presenter at the now-defunct Canadian retailer NCIX.
Linus created video content as a retailer’s official employee between 2007 and 2013 (when he founded Linus Media Group and became full-time with Linus Tech Tips) and then on a contract up until 2015.
Linus was always seen in his videos using the same bright orange ratcheting Screwdriver by Snap-On.
Linus Media Group, rather than carrying the screwdriver that is very difficult to find now outside of eBay in their Linus Tech Tip Store, decided to create their own. They launched it in mid-2022.
The screwdriver was developed in collaboration with Megapro, whose screwdrivers look similar to Linus’ original orange screwdriver.
In a just-shy-of-30-minute video explaining how it took three years between announcement and launch, Linus describes how they didn’t want to rebrand a current Megapro screwdriver.
Linus instead tasked a staff member and even hired an engineer to create a design good enough to replace Linus’ orange screwdriver. The new design would also house Megapro’s mechanisms and maintain its shape throughout the manufacturing process.
Linus’ dedication to quality, his knowledge of tech, and his personal opinion on what makes a screwdriver appropriate for it makes a $70 tool seem worthwhile. This is especially true for the fans of the YouTube channel.
The screwdriver currently has a rating of 4.5 stars out of more than 6,800 reviews.
NileRed
Value proposition: Although he makes videos about chemistry experiments, he has a Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry with a minor in Pharmacology.
NileRed has a TikTok creator and 10.7 million subscribers. He is also a YouTuber with 4.99 million subscribers.
He uploads science-based content to both platforms. He posts 30-minute to hour-long chemistry demonstrations on YouTube and one- to three-minute-long experiments on TikTok.
He is mostly active on TikTok, where he only posts one or a few videos per month. However, he still manages millions of views for each video.
You might wonder how he manages to do this when other TikTok video creators upload their videos every day and never see the results.
We can list a few things that are not related to NileRed.
His TikToks start off being short and straight to the point. He doesn’t add introductions or outros in which he speaks to the camera.
The final shot always results from his experiment.
NileRed’s content is backed by his biochemistry education and experience.
Through his narrations, he explains why he performs certain experiments. He explains what would or should happen when he combines two chemicals.
His videos are captivating because he can simplify scientific explanations to a non-scientific viewer.
You can trust that his videos will be entertaining because he is educated in chemistry and has the experience to know what to do to elicit a reaction, even if the one he expected didn’t happen.
Logan’s Candies
Value proposition: Logan’s Candies is a candy store that has been in business since 1933. The host of the TikToks, Logan’s Candies, has over 40 years of experience in candy-making.
Logan’s Candies is one of many TikTok creators who upload videos showing how they make their candy.
Logan’s Candies is a candy shop located in Ontario, California.
There are over 600 sweets in the shop, including 200 that they make themselves.
Candy pillows, candy ribbons, and candy canes are among the most popular of their treats.
The shop’s TikTok videos range from 15-second clips showing breaking candy strips into pillows to minute-long video demonstrations of candy making.
Logan’s Candies is a brand that has a lot of charm.
The Logan family founded the shop in 1933. It is now owned by Jerry Rowley and his wife Susi, who are the main hosts of the TikTok videos.
The young boy “started work seasonally in Logan’s candy shop at the age of 12. He continued to learn the trade under three different owners.” Jerry Rowley and his wife, Susi Rowley, took over the shop in 1982 at the age of 19. They have run it ever since !”
The 90-year history of the brand distinguishes the shop’s content, Jerry’s candy-making expertise, and charismatic personality.
Revive Skateboards
Value proposition: The primary marketing strategy of the company is to upload video content on Andrew Shrock, the owner of the brand’s YouTube channel. Andy has been skateboarding for more than 20 years, and his brand works with skaters who have been skating for just as long.
Cincinnati skater Andrew Shrock founded ReVive Skateboards, along with his business partner and friend Brian Ambs.
Andy is also the owner of Force Wheels, a skateboard-wheel company.
The company has an online shop called Shredquarters.
The company rotates both products a few times per year. This means that the company releases a new design of deck or wheel every few months.
Skaters can choose from a variety of sizes for the decks and wheels.
ReVive Skateboards & Force Wheels sponsor a few skaters, including Aaron Kyro from Braille Skateboarding and John Hill. Jonny Giger is also one of them.
Many of the designs that are featured in new rotations were chosen and created by each skater.
